Title: Loosen Up Your Painting!
Location: White Bear Center for the Arts, 4971 Long Avenue, White Bear Lake, MN 55110
Description: This class is for those who want to explore abstraction and non-objective painting to discover a path to abstraction in their own work. Or, at a minimum, to “loosen up” their paintings! It will include looking at the work of other abstractionists to give us an understanding of why their paintings “work.” There will be exercises based on abstraction techniques, and also a lot of time to paint different kinds of abstracted paintings. This class is for all skill levels, but being receptive to new concepts, fun, play, self-evaluation, and constructive feedback is required..

Title: Glazing Portraits that glow with life in Watercolor
Location: Heidi’s House of Art and Respite, 4008 Birch Knoll Drive, White Bear Township, MN 55110
Description: This class for experienced beginners to advance watercolor painters will paint a lifelike rendering of one person of the student’s choice using my signature glazing technique. Class will begin by creating a line drawing to trace onto their watercolor paper. Instructions will be given to create this drawing from a black and white copy of their reference photo enlarged to the size they want to paint it. Drawing skills are not necessary. My technique of glazing, is an adaptation of an old master’s technique, and the colors I have developed create a lifelike glow to skin tones. The class has changed a little adding in techniques gleaned from Fealing Lin and Ted Nuttall workshops I attended last year. Class is taught step-by-step with demonstrations each followed with help one-on-one.
