Group Paint Event

The Wednesday Morning Plein Air outings are sponsored by NorthstarWatermedia Society, Open to ALL Painters. In other words, non members of NWS are warmly welcomed. Lunch arrangements up to the individuals, bringing a bag lunch is an option.   We gather around 9AM but you can join us at anytime during the morning. Rainout option if needed. St Paul’s Union Depot. Trains, lightrail, overlook to river, people and interior structure could all be interesting.

May 16 Outdoors at Centenniel Church, or indoors if you prefer, if rainy or cold  
May 23 Lake Gervais off Edgerton; Lake Gervais is located just north of hwy 36 on Edgerton. Take the Edgerton exit off Hwy 36 and go north on Edgerton about 1/8 mile. There is a beach, beach house with rest rooms and a large parking lot, Near by a grove of oak trees and a fishing dock.
May 30 St. Anthony Park Como and Carter Av. Library and other nice views. Library at 2245 Como Av is a gem in the Saint Anthony Park neighborhood. It’s charming, the architecture is beautiful. Lunch at Colossal

June 6 Corner of Western and Selby Ave in St Paul Great sites for painting coffee drinkers on sidewalk café, the St Paul Cathedral, and the Swedish Church, and all the great houses in the area. Or continue on Western to Summit. Summit Lookout Park. across the street from the University Club. Plenty of benches and a good view of the High Bridge.   Lots of parking available on the street and you are close enough to join us for lunch at Nina’s.
June 13 Rural Stillwater home of Judith Johnson.10286 Kismet Lane North. From Roseville, take Hwy 36 to Manning, then turn left. Take Manning to Dellwood Rd Go left 0.6 mi. Turn right ontoLansing Ave N. this is a small partly paved Rd.   Drive to 102ndgo left on gravel rd which becomes Kismet Ln N. stay to the Right. Potluck for lunch!
June 20 Historic District of Milwaukee St In Minneapolis between 23rd and 24th Ave on Franklin Ave and 24th St on the North and South. It is a square,the houses were built on the alley between 23rd and 24th st, the entire block has been cordoned from cars and the sidewalks are open for pedestrians and bikes.   The area is charming. Parking on 23rd Ave or 24th Ave or on 24th St. and start walking into the center of the square. Lunch options Seward Café or Pizza Luce or Tracey’s Saloon.
June 27. Sibley House in Mendota free parking on site Get there by hwy 13 either from West St Paul or by exiting off Hwy 10 and Hwy 1     Eat at Lucky’s 1362 Sibley Memorial

July 4th – Holiday, paint at your favorite independence day celebration!
July 11 Stillwater overlook .Overlooking new bridge plenty of parkling at the Hwy 95 and Sunnyside Dr intersection just north of the bridge. Eat at PD Pappy’s
July 18 Dodge Nature Center. 365 Marie Ave West St Paul35E to Hwy 13 go Left, then south (R)on Wachtler ave, Left on Wentworth Av, Right on Charlton St. Restrooms are in the Education Building and main office, entrance is off Charlton Street between Marie and Wentworth Avenue. Barn, windmill, farmhouse sugar shack
July 25 St Paul Como Park Como Pavilion 1360 North Lexington Parkway S. On Como Lake, there is a nice path with benches. The Como Dockside Restaurant is there.

4.      AUGUST

Aug 1 St. Anthony MainAn old standby eating at Astros. Meter parking.
Aug 8 Big Rivers Regional Park MendotaTake 35E south to Hwy 13 south.(right) 2 miles, just past St Peters church go right. (church address is 1405 Sibley Memorial Hwy) 1st right into the park. Overlook of River Bottom and Mpls in distance.
Aug 15 Bayport– South of Stillwater on Hwy 95, 1930’s gas station with old cars, quaint downtown area. Nice park on the river with facilities. Mom and pop style restaurants.  
Aug 22 Northeast Minneapolis off St. Anthony Parkway. 1701St Anthony Parkway .Church and Classic 1920’s style houses very picturesque.   Coffee shops or dining nearby.   Street parking.
Aug 29 Wrap Up the summer –Roseville Central Park Muriel Sahlin ArboretumDale street south of Cty rd C   Come in the morning to paint flowers, pond, houses,   pot luck lunch at 11AM with oo la la critique to show summer paintings bringing a great summer to a close.   Central Park meeting place off of Dale, beautiful park flowers

5.      SEPTEMBER – weather permitting, (indoor painting begins at centenniel)

Sept 5 Stevens House Minnehaha Falls Park The park is on the Minnehaha parkway close to the Mississippi River. The Stevens House is south of the falls and there is parking meters on the street .   People recommend the sea and salt restaurant located in the pavilion.
Sept 12 Crosby Farm Regional Park– 2595 Crosby Farm Rd -BBQ Grill, Biking Trail, Fire Pit, Hiking Trail, Lake, Picnic Area, Restroom Facilities, and Shelter picnic facilities & a boat launch
