Artists’ Market 2016!
We had a very busy and fun weekend of art sales, demos, kids doing our scavenger hunt, and lots of Artists at Work, painting for the crowds! It was a cold weekend, most were dressed in UGH boots, half mittens, polar fleece jackets, sweaters, layers, and hung out around our various heaters! We are not done with our final numbers as yet, so these are rough numbers: 548 works sold; just under $16, 800 for this year 70 artists participated 1,148 visitors came through the front doors We had a very nice opening reception. Special thanks to our 13 loyal committee members, who worked well beyond their free time! Thanks to Sue Olson and Connie Keithahn as this year’s co-chairs. Artists’ Market Demos Artists’ Market 2016 featured demos by eight members of NorthStar. Heading the lineup on Friday was Susan Fryer Voigt who showed how to incorporate various Golden mediums when painting with acrylics. Marilyn Jacobson painted her whimsical characters and shared humorous antidotes. The audience loved her! Nels Femrite completed a landscape with waterfalls, mountains, trees, and many jokes. Kathy Braud’s lovely soft blooms appeared before our very eyes. Tom Dimock peacefully talked us through the process of outdoor painting, equipment needed and advice for working quickly, capturing shadows and the light. He painted a shipyard in Stillwater. Dennis Murnyak painted three landscapes in his award-winning style which features simple shapes. Pat Undis painted a sweet smelling still life of lilacs and oranges. David Smith painted a cityscape from an old vintage photo. At the end he gave the painting to the lucky winner whose name was drawn. Thanks to Lynn Berens for the wonderful photos from our Reception!
