Best in Show: Linda Stout–“Petal Pusher”
A carefully thought-out story, a new story because of the surprise – a cat! Refreshing and well done. Doesn’t look like a workshop painting.
Award of Excellence: Judith Blain–“Heading Toward Lake Superior”
Every inch is flawless with color happenings. Delicious and masterful. She knows what to leave out.
Award of Excellence: Gail Speckman–“Summer Porches of the Old Neighborhood”
Masterful application of paint. Charming. It takes you right to the neighborhood.
Merit Award: Emmy White–“Stillwater”
The shapes and colors are all Emmy! Masterful composition.
Merit Award: Barbara Duffy–“Garden Star II”
Energy in the application of paint. Warm dominance. Excellent line work. Not like anyone else.

I’m crazy for the shapes! Beautiful composition and fresh application of paint.
Merit Award: Karen Knutson–“Sedona Memories, II”
A master of the abstract. Fun and playful design with quiet areas.
Honorable Mention: Leny Wendel—“Rock On!”
I’m entertained by the story. Great use of shapes, each different but repeated. Lots of movement.
Honorable Mention: John Carlis–“Silas and Grandpa”
The narrative tugs at your heart. Fresh and minimally done.
Honorable Mention: Heidi Nelson–“But you’re WET!”
Excellent use of value and color. Expressive quality pulls you right in.
Honorable Mention: David Schlief –“City By the River”
Strong use of color. Good brush strokes, like handwriting.
Honorable Mention: Pat Choffrut–“Ireland: The Road Home”
Warm dominance on a sunny day. Beautifully rendered figures. Carries you right along the road.
Honorable Mention: Karen Sorensen–“Spring Thaw”
Great line work. Nice value pattern. Cold against warm. Beautiful watercolor approach.
Thank you to show chair, Marie Panlener, and to all the volunteers.
